Fragrance dispensing machine, perfume vending machine, perfume dispenser, fragrance vending machine. In Spanish, máquina dosificadora de fragancias or máquina expendedora de perfumes. People search for the same thing under a lot of different names, and it is fair to wonder whether they are different machines.
Mostly, they are not. This post explains what a fragrance dispensing machine is, how it measures each dose, and the one difference that actually matters when you are choosing one.
The machine itself, its three packages and their prices are on the perfume vending machine page.
What Is a Fragrance Dispensing Machine?
A fragrance dispensing machine releases a measured dose of fragrance, one spray at a time, when somebody chooses a scent and pays for it.
That is the whole idea. Nobody hands over a tester bottle and nobody has to buy a full bottle. The customer gets one spray of the fragrance they picked, and the machine keeps the rest for the next person.
The word “dispensing” is the clue. In Spanish, dosificadora comes from dosis, a dose: the machine gives out a set amount each time, not whatever someone happens to press out of a bottle.
Is It the Same as a Perfume Vending Machine?
When the machine sells sprays, yes. Fragrance dispensing machine, perfume vending machine and perfume dispenser are different names for the same thing, and which one people use mostly depends on the language and the country.
The difference that matters is not the name. It is what the machine sells:
- A spray machine sells a dose. The customer pays for one spray, and the fragrance stays in the machine. This is what a SpritzUp machine does.
- A machine that sells bottles sells stock. If a machine hands out whole bottles or samples, the buyer is reselling products, which is a different business with different numbers.
So if you are comparing machines, ask what the customer walks away with. A spray, or a product.
How Does It Measure Each Dose?
On a SpritzUp machine, the dose is a setting, not a guess.
Behind the touchscreen, every machine is connected to a management platform. There, the owner sets the spray length for each fragrance. A longer spray uses more fragrance, so that one setting decides two things at once: how much the customer gets, and how many sprays each container gives before it needs refilling.
Here is what the machine holds, as we publish it:
| What | Figure |
|---|---|
| Fragrances in one machine | 5 |
| Size of each container | 100 ml |
| Sprays per container | Up to 900 |
| Machine size | 69.3 × 45.0 × 13.8 cm |
| Weight | 28 kg |
| Floor space needed | 0 (it hangs on the wall) |
The “up to 900” depends on the spray length you set. We publish a container as lasting roughly 900 sprays, which we put at about two to three months, but a longer spray means fewer of them.
One detail people often miss: the bottles you see in the lit display at the top of the machine are for show. The fragrance that comes out of the buttons is in the five 100 ml containers behind the door, which you fill with the fragrances you choose. Fragrances are not included with the machine.
What Does the Customer Actually Do?
It takes a few seconds:
- They walk up and see the fragrances on the touchscreen.
- They pick one.
- They pay. Depending on the package, the machine takes coins, card or contactless.
- They hold out a wrist, and the machine sprays.
No attendant, no counter, and nobody watching them decide. Which payment methods your machine accepts depends on the package you choose, so check that before you buy.
Is It the Same as an Air Freshener Dispenser?
No, and the two get mixed up more than you would think, because both release fragrance from a box on a wall.
An air freshener dispenser is built to scent a room. A fragrance dispensing machine is built to scent a person, who chooses a fragrance and pays for one spray. One is a running cost for the venue. The other is something the venue’s guests choose to buy.
That difference shapes everything else: where the machine goes, what it holds and how it earns. A fragrance dispensing machine belongs where people stop and check how they look, not in a corridor that just needs to smell clean.
Where Does a Fragrance Dispensing Machine Go?
Because it hangs on the wall and is under 14 cm deep, it fits in places a free-standing machine never could: a nightclub washroom, a gym exit, a hotel lift lobby or a padel club. What it needs is a socket within reach and a spot where people stand still for a moment.
We wrote up the full detail, including five spots that look obvious and are not, in where to put a perfume vending machine.
The Short Version
A fragrance dispensing machine releases one measured spray of fragrance when somebody chooses a scent and pays. Perfume vending machine, perfume dispenser and máquina dosificadora de fragancias are names for the same machine. The difference that matters is what it sells: a spray, or a bottle.
A SpritzUp machine sells sprays. It holds five fragrances in 100 ml containers, gives up to 900 sprays from each one depending on the spray length you set, and hangs on the wall without taking any floor space. It is not an air freshener: it scents people, not rooms.
